Met this guy last night in the campground (he was my next door neighbor), but we didn’t get to talk much since I needed to leave as soon as I got the camper setup and I got cleaned up so I could go watch the sunset and get my photo at the mile 0 buoy.
This morning, we spent about 45 minutes talking about his 8 month tour He is from Norway and hardcore all the way. He had his bike flown to Alaska, which is where his tour originated, and he has ridden all the way to Key West. His ultimate destination is Argentina (he said there would be a boat involved at some point). He told me his name a couple times, but I can’t pronounce it, much less spell it (scream Henry the eighth while you sneeze and you’ll be very close).
Leo’s Campground was really nice, great location, and very friendly staff. The free WIFI was better or equal to my WIFI at home, which is very uncommon, and the bath house, although it only accommodates one person of each sex at a time, was very clean. My only recommendation would be to add some hooks to the back of the shower area door.
Short ride today back up Overseas Highway (US-1), then Dixie Hwy (still US-1), then Krome Avenue (997) to 41, and 41 all the way to Estero, Florida.
Other than the one Republican Driver (nothing good comes from looking left) on Hwy 41 in Naples who looked right, turned right, right in front of me (never looked to her left), it was a good ride, although just as hot as yesterday.
Thank you Lord for keeping the shiny side up, and the greasy side down today.
Ride Day 5, Tour Day 2 commences on 07/16/2015 (vacationing with the family for the next 5 days).
