Four Corners Tour – Pre-Planning Stuff #3

Four Corners Tour

Hopefully this will not sully too many peoples opinion of me, but I am going to post my check-list (yeah, it really is that long, and yep, I really do try to account for everything, and anticipate anything that can go wrong). Also, be aware that a few things you might think are missing are not, they are just permanently stored on the bike (i.e., First Aid Kit, Mini Air Compressor, Tire Repair Kit, Rain Jacket, Rain PantsWaterproof Overshoes, Bike Cover).

I also keep some things in the cargo bay of the trailer all the time, so I don’t need them on my Load List (i.e., 5000 BTU A/C unit, Honda 2000 watt generator, telescopic tent poles, tent stakes, tarps, assorted bungee cords, lock for trailer, lock for cargo bay). Neither of these lists are all inclusive, but they do cover the majority of the essentials.

Keep in mind that I keep this list in Evernote (these were just copied and pasted into this blog post), which utilizes check boxes that you can actually check. I love Evernote for a myriad of things, but managing lists is one of it’s highest value attributes. Anything I do in Evernote on any of my devices (i.e., iPhone, iPad, Laptop, Desktop) are always synchronized, so I can see/add/subtract/edit anything from anywhere at anytime.

Managing a list like this from my iPhone is ideal, I can take the phone to the garage while I am packing, and check things off as I confirm they are loaded, or as I load them.

Opinion not sullied, I like lists 🙂

I love the idea of Evernote but never had a good use for it. Pen and paper is still my preferred medium 🙂

I’m also a fan of pencil and paper (not allowed to use a pen since you can’t erase), but I love Evernote because I can add things while I am active (walking, running, riding, driving, etc.) by using the voice to text option.
